Overseas Immersion Program

I am finally back in Singapore after the 12 weeks exchange program in DigiPen (Redmond). I realised that their teaching culture is different from Singapore as the teacher does not force the student to listen in class. The subsequent weeks after the first relaxing week has consecutively been hectic despite taking 4 modules. I did not have time to cook my meals, and the hours of sleep reduces. By the time the entire semester ended, I was exhausted.

Each game prototype assignment is 3 weeks long (1 week for planning) instead of 5 weeks, and it will be graded according to the rubric. The rubric is not properly explained to us because it did not specify some items and some terms were not described. Therefore, I took the risk in the final assignment by not having a lose state because it was not stated in the rubric. The professor penalised me for leaving it out.

I am most proud of my second assignment, which focuses on the element of sensation (Zen Rhino's Engagement Theory). Realising that my previous racing game idea has a big game-breaking flaw in it due to its core mechanic, I spent 1 week developing the game. You can find this game in my portfolio (Game Designer) and download it so that you can play it too.

A week to go

"HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!"

One more week and my IAP is over and I am currently preparing my report. I have learnt that every small detail is important as it makes the project complete and polished.

Now, I have to prepare my portfolio for my graduation during my free time at home. Fusion14 is an event for the graduating batch of SIDM students to showcase their works. It is held at the Singapore Expo Hall and opened to public.

When my IAP is over, I will work on a PS3 game which was my assignment as I want to put that in my portfolio. I will add more elements to the gameplay as well as the graphics will be changed by the designer.

1.5 months to go

Within one and a half months of internship at Veev Interactive, I have completed multiple projects and learned a new software.

I created a simple matching game for preschoolers using Unity3.5 that uses their device or touch screen (on a television). Currently, I am using a new software called 'Articulate Storyline' which makes learning more interesting by adding interactivity (e.g. animation, buttons).

Internship at VEEV Interactive

I was posted to VEEV, which is located at Ayer Rajah Crescent.

I am using Adobe Edge Animate to code, which uses Javascript. The work which I am currently doing is confidential, and it is not related to games.

Merry Christmas!
